Tip: Turn on biometric login for faster access — go to Menu → Login Information → Biometric Login.
I forgot my username or password — what do I do?
- Open the app and tap Forgot username or password
- Enter the email address on your account and tap Next
- Check your inbox for a reset link — also check your spam or junk folder
- Follow the link to create a new password
No email? The account may be under a different address. Call us and we'll look it up and update it for you.
Can I use the app on more than one phone?
Yes — you can log in on multiple devices with the same credentials. Even better, create separate logins for each family member or employee so everyone has their own access. This way, the activity log shows exactly who armed or disarmed and when, instead of just a shared account name.
Arming & Disarming
How do I arm or disarm my system from the app?
On the app home screen, tap the shield icon. You'll see three options:
- Arm Away — all sensors active, use when leaving the property
- Arm Stay — perimeter sensors active but interior motion off, use when you're home
- Disarm — tap when the shield is red or orange; green means disarmed
What's the difference between Arm Stay and Arm Away?
Arm Away activates every sensor including interior motion detectors. Use this when the property is completely empty.
Arm Stay activates door and window sensors but turns off interior motion — so you can move freely inside. Use this when you're home for the night or someone will remain on the premises.

What does "No Entry Delay" mean and when should I use it?
Normally when you open a door while armed, you get a countdown to disarm before the alarm sounds. No Entry Delay removes this countdown — the alarm fires the instant a door opens.
Use it when arming in Arm Stay at night while you're inside — an intruder won't get a grace period. Do not use it if you're leaving — when you return and open the door, the alarm will fire immediately with no time to disarm.

What happens in the app when my alarm goes off?
The app enters Alarm Mode — a screen showing which sensor triggered, any captured video clips, live camera feeds, and recent lock activity, all in one place to help you quickly decide if it's a real emergency.
If the In-App Cancel/Verify feature is enabled, you have 2 minutes to:
If the In-App Cancel/Verify feature is enabled, you have 2 minutes to:
- Cancel Alarm — disarms the panel and sends a cancel to stop dispatch
- Verify Alarm — confirms it's real and speeds up the monitoring station's response
Can I set my system to arm and disarm automatically on a schedule?
Yes. Log in at alarm.com on a browser → Automation → Arming Schedules. Set the system to arm and disarm at specific times on specific days — ideal for businesses with set hours.
There's also Smart Arming, which automatically arms at night and disarms in the morning based on activity from your motion sensors — adapting to your real routine.

False Alarms
My alarm keeps going off for no reason. How do I find the cause?
Step 1 — Find the sensor. In the app go to Activity → Event History. Every alarm is logged with the exact sensor name. Look for a pattern — same sensor every time? Specific time of day?
Most common causes:
Most common causes:
- Low sensor battery — the #1 cause. A dying battery often sends erratic signals before it dies completely
- Misaligned door/window sensor — if the gap between sensor and magnet exceeds ¼ inch, it may read "open" even when shut
- Pets or sunlight triggering motion sensors — animals near a PIR sensor or shifting sunlight can trip it
- Loose sensor mount — a sensor that's shifted even slightly on the frame can send false signals
Pro tip: If one sensor's battery is dying, others installed at the same time are probably close behind. Replace them all at once to avoid a chain of failures.
I accidentally triggered the alarm — what do I do right now?
- Disarm immediately — use the app or your keypad code
- Answer the monitoring station's call and give your verbal password to confirm false alarm — this is the fastest way to cancel a dispatch
- If you miss the call, authorities may be en route — call Fusion Security Solutions immediately so we can contact the station
Important: Make sure everyone on the property knows the verbal password. It's the single fastest way to stop a false alarm dispatch.
How do I put my system in test mode before testing sensors?
Test mode tells the monitoring station to ignore alarms during a set window — so you can trip sensors and test your keypad without triggering a real dispatch.
Go to alarm.com website → System Management → Test Mode. Set the duration, do your testing, then take it out of test mode immediately when done. Or call us and we'll set it up for you.

Sensors & Batteries
My app shows a "low battery" alert. What do I do?
The app tells you which sensor has a low battery. Locate it, open the casing, and replace the battery — most door/window sensors use a CR2032 or CR123A (check the old battery or sensor label to confirm). The alert should clear within a few minutes of replacement.
If it doesn't clear, try disarming and re-arming, or call us to reset the alert remotely.

Note: A dying battery often causes false alarms before the low battery alert even appears. Random alarms? Check batteries first.
A sensor shows "open" but the door is definitely closed. Why?
Almost always a misalignment issue. The sensor and magnet need to be within about ¼ inch of each other to read "closed." Over time, doors settle, wood swells with humidity, and hinges loosen — widening the gap.
Check that:
Check that:
- The magnet and sensor are closely aligned
- Mounting screws or adhesive haven't loosened, letting the sensor shift
- The door is fully closing into the frame
What does "Sensor Bypassed" mean?
A bypassed sensor is being intentionally ignored — it will not trigger an alarm even if activated. This usually happens automatically when a sensor shows "open" at the time you arm, so the system bypasses it to allow arming.
To fix it: Disarm, make sure the door/window is fully closed, then re-arm. The bypass should clear.

Important: A bypassed sensor is not protecting that zone. Don't leave sensors bypassed long-term — call us if a sensor keeps getting bypassed.
Could my pet be setting off the motion sensor?
Yes — standard PIR motion sensors detect moving heat and pets can absolutely trigger them, especially larger animals or those that jump onto furniture.
Options:
Options:
- Ask us about pet-immune motion sensors designed to ignore animals under a certain weight
- Reposition the sensor to aim higher, reducing floor-level coverage
- Use Arm Stay when pets are home — this keeps door/window sensors active but disables interior motion
Users & Access Codes
How do I add another person to the app?
- Log in at alarm.com on a browser
- Go to Users → Manage Logins → Add a Login
- Enter their email and choose a permission level (full control, arm/disarm only, view only, etc.)
- They'll receive an email invite to set their own password and set up two-factor authentication
Tip: Give every person their own login — the activity log will then clearly show who armed or disarmed and when.
How do I add or change a keypad code?
Keypad codes are managed in the app or website under Users. You can add codes for family, employees, or contractors, set scheduled codes that only work during certain hours or days, and label each code with the person's name. Changes push to the panel immediately — no need to be on-site.
How do I remove a user or delete a code?
App access: alarm.com → Users → Manage Logins → delete their login. They lose access immediately.
Keypad code: Go to Users in the app or website, find the code, and delete it. The change is pushed to the panel automatically.

Notifications & Alerts
I'm not getting notifications. How do I fix this?
Check these three layers in order:
- In the Alarm.com app — go to Notifications, confirm each alert type is ON and your phone is listed as a recipient
- On your phone — Settings → Notifications → Alarm.com — make sure notifications and background activity are allowed
- Log out and back in to the app, then re-enable push notifications
I'm getting too many notifications. How do I cut them down?
In the app or at alarm.com, go to Notifications and turn off types you don't need. For cameras, switch from "any motion" to Person Detection or Vehicle Detection — this filters out wind, shadows, animals, and headlights, and only notifies you when a person or vehicle is detected.
Tip: Set different recipients for each notification type — managers can get opening/closing alerts while homeowners get doorbell notifications.
Troubleshooting
The app says my system is "offline." What does that mean?
The Alarm.com cloud can't reach your panel. Try:
- Check your internet — try loading a website on your phone
- Verify your panel has power — look for a power indicator light
- Restart your router and wait 2–3 minutes
- Still offline after 10 minutes? Call Fusion Security Solutions — it may be a cellular or hardware issue we can diagnose remotely
My panel is beeping. What does it mean and how do I stop it?
A beeping panel means there's a trouble condition — the system is alerting you to a problem. Common causes:
- Low battery on the panel backup battery or a sensor
- AC power loss — panel running on battery because it lost wall power
- Communication failure — lost connection to the monitoring network
- Sensor tamper — a sensor casing was opened or a sensor was removed from its mount
My camera shows a grey screen or won't load. How do I fix it?
- In the app, tap Video and pull down to refresh
- Check the camera physically — is the power light on?
- Unplug the camera for 30 seconds and plug it back in
- For Wi-Fi cameras — verify it's on the correct Wi-Fi network. If you changed your router name or password recently, the camera needs updating
Changed your Wi-Fi? All Wi-Fi devices including cameras need to be reconnected with the new credentials — they don't do this automatically.
I changed my Wi-Fi — do I need to update my alarm system?
Your alarm panel communicates over cellular as its primary path, so changing Wi-Fi usually doesn't affect the panel itself. However, any Wi-Fi cameras or connected smart devices will need to be updated with the new network credentials — they won't find the new network automatically.
